Written and Directed Hadi Sheibani, ‘Katvoman’ wins Best Short Fiction Film at the 10th Amnesty International Au Cinema pour les Droits humains. The festival is searching for films that touch on one or several human rights issues that are connected to any of our campaigns, such as the liberty of expression, women’s rights, impunity, and discrimination amongst other things, etc.
The festival was conducted in various locations in the south of France between March 1st and March 31st, 2023. For the tenth Amnesty International Festival, 44 films, featuring 16 feature-length films and 28 short films, were screened in 186 separate showings at 81 venues. Statistically, 6,248 people attended the festival. Based on people's votes, Katvoman earned the Best Fiction Short Film Award of the 10th edition of the “Au Cinéma pour les droits humains” (To Cinema for Human Rights). Subsequent to being honored with the Best Fiction Film Prize at the 35th Festival International du Film Amateur de Kelibia–FIFAK in Tunisia, it is deemed the second award for the film.
In addition to its success in France, Katvoman has been chosen to be showcased at the 63rd Zlín Film Festival in the Czech Republic.
Established in 1961, Zlín Film Festival is the oldest and largest film festival of its kind in the world. This is a significant international event that has an excellent reputation and holds lots of respect. The festival screenings are conducted not only in Zlín but also in many other towns in the Czech Republic.
Since 2010 festival attendance has exceeded 95,000 children and adults. In 2021, an audience of 120.000 individuals attended the festival. The mission and goal of the ZLÍN FILM FESTIVAL is the presentation of contemporary world films for children and youth in the Czech Republic as well as an exhibition of Czech films. An important aspect of the festival is not only the effort to entertain young audiences but also–through film–to educate, expand their awareness of the outside world, and develop esthetic, social, and moral perceptions.
The Zlín Film Festival is an active member of the European Children's Film Association. ZFF organizes an extensive supporting, professional, and charitable program. Katvoman, Hadi Sheibani’s first debut, is the only Iranian film among 50 students film competing at the student section of the festival known as the Zlín Dog.
The 63rd edition of the Zlín Film Festival will take place in Zlín, Prague, and other towns in the Czech Republic from the 1st to the 7th of June 2023.
