The library opened on the occasion of Children’s Day and Iran’s National Children’s Week. The library aims to provide an appropriate platform for children’s studying and promote the culture of book reading in the country.

The library is the previous Resalat Library which has been renovated and renamed for children. The cultural site is 240 square meters and includes various sections including main repository and playing room for children.

The minister expressed his hope that education of children will promote Iran’s status in the world.

“Children must grow through their access to research works,” adding that the government makes great attempt to familiarize children with the cultural resources and educational topics.

Secretary General of Public Libraries of Iran Mehdi Ramezani and head of public libraries in Tehran Province, Alireza Zandvakili, were present at the opening ceremony.

Also on children’s Day, UNICEF Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran Robin Nandy said, “Let’s be more attentive to children and adolescents around us. Let us, as parents, spend more quality time with them. Let us be reminded that the best gift we can give our children is time and attention. Engage with them; play with them; encourage them to communicate openly and listen to them without judgment. It is this engagement that will help our children address their challenges and cope during these unusual and unnatural times.

“Let us all look forward with hope toward better days when our children can play again with their friends in schoolyards and playgrounds and scream and laugh together.”
