Dariush Moaddabian is an actor and director, known for Bon Voyage (1994), A Mid-Summer Night Dream (1994) and Foreign Cash (1989). His new plays The Story of Shirt and Violin and Waiting Room will go on stage from July 17 to 29.

Speaking to HONARONLINE, he said Praga is a Belgian dramatist and satirist, and he speaks French. He found fame after appearing on TV in the 1970s and 80s. He followed his fame in Belgium later in the 80s. He is a physician as well with a bilingual festival in his name.

He added both plays are short and satirical: “They will be performed in 70 minutes first in French and then Persian. They take place on separate days and will be played by French literature and language students. We have been rehearing for some time now. The plays will have French and Belgian language songs as well.”

With regard to the People theater group he said “the group was formed by Ali Nasirian. Entetzami joined the group later. I did join the group in 1967. We stopped working after the revolution until we went on stage again in 2012. The group belongs to Nasirian and I run it. We are now staged at the Museum of Entezami.”

He added, “We performed different plays during the past three years. The group has 25 members.

He concluded by saying that the bilingual plays are his first experience in the field. “Before this, I staged Forced Marriage at Vahdat Hall. These new plays could teach us a lot as they are true to their original text. They are not complex and both narrated in straight lines. For those who don’t understand French the moment they see them in Persian many revelations and surprises will be had.”

The play will go on stage at 8:30. The actors are Hamidreza Agahi, Alireza Akhavan, Saeid Parsa, Ali Dashti, Milad Salehvand, Aryan Safai, Mehrnaz Abbasi, Saeid Asghari, Mahyar Mojoudi, Dariush Moaddabian, and Ashkan Mirza Shafi. Tickets are available for purchase at www.tiwall.com.
