Narges Abyar an Iranian director won award for best direction for an Iran-Iraq war drama entitled "Breath" at 12th edition of the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival.

Canadian festival was held at the VIFF Vancity Theater in the Canadian city from March 8 to March 12.

Abyar is best known for her film "Trench 143".

"Lutine", directed by Isabelle Broué from France awards for best feature and screenplay, "A Revolution in Four Seasons" by Jessie Deeter awards for best documentary and "The Thinking Garden" by Christine Welsh, "Trying" by Shauna Johannesen and "Ranger" by Sandra Ignagni award for achievement in a BC Short.
