The world design rankings (WDR) positions the top countries based on the number of participating designers that have received the A’ design award each year. The purpose of the WDR is to highlight key data and insights to economists and journalists with regards to the design industry. Ultimately, this aims to contribute to the bigger and global design culture by supporting and showcasing good design.

During the six-year period, 25 Iranian artists have collected a total of 81 awards including 9 golden, 35 silver, 18 bronze and 19 iron awards. Iran’s position in the ranking improved two notches compared to the previous list.

Furthermore, Seyed Mohammad Mortazavi and Seyed Ali Alavi in order achieved 20 and 27 ranks on world design rankings 2016.

Seyed Mohammad Mortazavi has won 9 awards (4 golden, 4 silver and 1 bronze) and Seyed Ali Alavi seconed winner from Iran won 6 awards (1 golden, 2 silver, 1 bronze and 2 iron awards).

Similarly to 2015, the United States topped the list with a total of 396 awards; in second was Turkey again with 297 awards; third, and leapfrogging Hong Kong and Italy, was China with 266 awards; Hong Kong received 242 awards; and Italy rounds up the top five with a total of 202 awards.

 The remaining countries in the top 10 for 2016 are, Taiwan who jumped from 15th to sixth, great Britain in seventh, Japan in eighth, Brazil in ninth, and Germany in tenth spot.
