Abolghasem Ferdowsi Toosi is an Iranian epic poet and the writer of Shahnamehe; the greatest Persian-speaking Iranian poet who is prominent around the world.

In Iran, May 13th is named after Ferdowsi Commemoration Day.

Mohammad-Mahdi Esmaili, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, in this ceremony, said: The Persian language is honored as a symbol of the identity of great Iran because the Persian language is one of the components of unity in our society.

Iranians and Persian speakers people, along with their efforts to spread Islam, did not neglect their historical culture and created a mixture of Iranian-Islamic identity.

He added: We Iranians are proud of the Persian language with different dialects and accents and we remember it with pride.

Esmaili emphasized: The Persian language covers a wide cultural field in the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, and is not limited to the geography of Iran.

In the continuation of the ceremony, Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, the head of the Persian Language and Literature Academy, praised Shahnameh and said: If we compare Shahnameh to a container, the substance inside it is the written history of Iran, which Ferdowsi, as a Shia Muslim has included in his opinion, and has shown Iranian identity. 

He added: Shahnameh is a treasure for lexicographers and poets.

Honoring cultural activists, including the ambassadors of Armenia and Turkey, was the ending part of the ceremony.
