The professor showed interest in Persian literature after he received a bilingual Arab-Persian book of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam at school.
In 1960, he traveled to Iran to complete his thesis on the Persian language under the supervision of Persian literature scholar Badiozzaman Foruzanfar.
He then returned back home to teach the Persian language at universities in Lebanon.
He has published over 20 books.
