A museum on the history of republicanism in Iran will be established in Tehran, announced an official from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts.

The director of museums and historical properties at the ministry told IRNA that the Museum of the Republic will be established in a part of the Communications Museum in Tehran to introduce the history of republicanism as well as the presidents.

Last week the First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri announced the government’s decision to create 10 organizational positions in the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts for the Museum of the Presidents' Memorial.

Kargar said that the Museum of the Presidents' Memorial will be under the supervision of the presidential office.

From the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, he said, each of the presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran had specific approaches. They had works and awards during their tenure of office. And according to the last week’s governmental announcement, all the presidents should create a museum dubbed as the memories of the era of responsibility.

Kargar said that the museum of monuments during the presidency of the late Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani (1989-1997) has been established in Rafsanjan in the southeastern province of Kerman.

Some of the works and awards related to the presidency of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (1981-1989), now the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, are in the historical and cultural Sa’dabad Complex, and some of the works of his period are in the Astan Quds Razavi Museum in Mashhad, the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi, he said.

According to Kargar, the complete collection of works and awards during the presidency of Seyyed Mohammad Khatami (1997-2005) has been formed in a part of the same building in Sa’dabad Complex and will be open for the public to visit.

The official said that there is a small part of the collection of works of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during his presidency (2005-2013) and he has not created a museum.

The head of the museums said that all the works and gifts of the presidency of Hassan Rouhani (2013-2021) are in the possession of the presidential office and have been listed. It is suggested that the monuments are kept in Sa’dabad Complex.
