Ali-Asghar Mounesan, several provincial officials, and press and cultural figures attended the opening ceremony at the Kalkatehchi Historical House.

The museum could become a reference museum due to displaying the history of Iran and roles of East Azarbaijan in various eras, Mounesan added.

In all museums, history is narrated to visitors, and this narrative of history with media subjects could be very valuable, the minister said.

The museum showcases historic newspapers published in East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Ardebil, and Zanjan provinces as well as printing machines, cameras and old journalistic photographs.

The museum was established after about nine years of efforts of Journalists Trade Union of Azarbaijan, media advocates and enthusiasts in this field, and with the cooperation of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Ministry.

The museum would serve as a place to introduce Iranian and foreign tourists to the history of journalism as the pioneer of press industry in Iran.
