The play ‘I Can’t Imagine Tomorrow’ written by American playwright Tennessee Williams (1911-1983) and directed by Iranian theater director Saeed Shishegar is currently on stage at Jamshid Mashayekhi Theater in Tehran.
It is about a man and a woman challenged by the everydayness of their lives. The characters named ‘One’ and ‘Two’ carry out the same evening ritual of card playing and watching the news on TV in an effort to avoid any real confrontation.
One’s physical deterioration and approaching death forces her to prepare for the inevitable. Two resists this change and his consuming fear of losing One leads to an emotional breakdown.
“One of the reasons why I chose this play was that its story is similar to the situation of some people in our community,” Honaronline quoted Shishegar as saying.
As he said, the work was basically a university project and “it took me three months to rehearse with the actors.” The two-actor cast includes Maryam Taheri Bonchenari and Mehrshad Shahsavar Haqiqi.
The theatrical work will be performed until July 6 at Jamshid Mashayekhi Hall located at No. 1478, northwest of Vali-e-Asr Crossroad, Enqelab St.
