Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili added that Hazrat Zeinab and Imam Sajjad (PBUT) were the chief reporters of Ashura.

Commemorating all the narrators and reporters who documented the grandeur of Islam and Iran on National Reporters’ Day, the minister wished success for members of the Iranian media on their crucial mission of reporting.

August 8 is designated as National Reporters’ Day in Iran because, on that day in 1998 (Mordad 17, 1377 on the Iranian calendar), Mahmoud Saremi, the correspondent of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), along with eight Iranian diplomats, were killed by the Taliban in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

This year, National Reporters’ Day coincided with Ashura.
