Iran’s Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili said that Mulla Sadra is a sage whose name shines in the field of Islamic wisdom so that he must be indeed named as the jewel of Iran’s wisdom.

Mulla Sadra is a great philosopher and scientist whose thoughts, even after 400 years, will quench the thirst of knowledge seekers, Esmaeili noted.

He is the founder of ‘Motaliyeh (The Transcendent) School’ as the third most important philosophical school in the world of Islam. Islamic wisdom is like a roaring river which found existence by Farabi and Avicenna, developed by Sohrevardi, Ibn Arabi and Mirdamad, and finally reached its climax in Mulla Sadra.

Mulla Sadra is a philosopher whose pen and language are the gateways to discussions and criticism. In the history of Islamic philosophy, he combines reason, intuition and revelation, uses the infinite divine knowledge and the Holy Qur’an, and tests his philosophical theories with the verses of the Qur’an, Esmaeili explained.

It is crystal clear that the absence of epistemological coherence equals the absence of cultural coherence which leads to lack of cultural dynamism. In this regard, Mulla Sadra’s role in epistemological aspect or creating coherence for Iran’s culture after the advent of Islam will be doubly important, Esmaeili concluded.
