“Henas” is about the assassination of Dariush Rezainejad, the 35-year-old Iranian nuclear scientist who was shot dead by Mossad gunmen before the eyes of his wife and little girl in front of his house in Tehran in July 2011. The movie portrays the terrorist attack through the eyes of his wife.

The program’s lineup also features “Mediterranean”, “Angels Descend Together”, “A Cube of Sugar” and “The Painting Pool”.

“Mediterranean” tells the story of a group of Iranians who are killed when the Aleppo refinery is overrun by ISIS terrorists. But Leila believes that her husband, Mohamad, is alive and tries to find him.

Starring Mehraveh Sharifinia and Puria Pursorkh, the film has been directed by Hadi Hajatmand based on a screenplay by Saber Allahdadian.

Directed by Hamed Mohammadi, “Angels Descend Together” follows Ahmad, a cleric who has a quiet and lovely life with his wife. However, his life changes when his wife becomes pregnant. Financial problems cause him to change jobs until he is offered a role in a movie. 

“The Painting Pool” by Maziar Miri tells the story of Maryam and Reza, a married couple with severe learning disabilities. When their son’s school work starts to surpass their own abilities, he grows frustrated with them and, after a heated argument, runs away from home. Maryam and Reza are left to struggle with work, money and heartbreak in this affecting exploration of love and family that balances its more tragic moments with warmth and humor.

Winner of the best film award at the 2013 IBAFF International Film Festival, “A Cube of Sugar” was directed by Reza Mirkarimi.

The story of the drama is set in an old house in the central Iranian city of Yazd. Because of the wedding of the youngest sister, Pasandideh, all of her sisters come to their old house to help their mother.
