Three Iranian feature films, ‘Asteroid,’ directed by Mehdi Hosseinivand, ‘Staging,’ directed by Alireza Samadi and ‘Legend of Bonasan, the Genie in the Lamp,’ directed by Habib Ahmadzadeh represent Iranian cinema, according to IRNA.

Other features of this section include ‘200 Meters’ by Ameen Nayfeh from Jordan, ‘Along the Sea’ by Akio Fujimoto from Japan, ‘Anima’ by Cao Jinling from China, ‘Playin' with Fire’ by Lita Guyom from South Korea, ‘In the Shadows’ by Erdem Tepegöz from Turkey, ‘The Dogs Didn’t Sleep Last Night’ by Ramin Rasouli from Afghanistan, and ‘The Road to Eden’ by Bakyt Mukul and Dastan Zhapar Uulu from Kyrgyzstan. 

There are two Iranian films ‘Forced,’ directed by Siavash Gorjestani, and ‘I Am Iranian,’ directed by Alireza Kavianrad in the short films’ lineup of this section.

Eight other short films also will vie in this section. 

This year, FIff will open in Tehran on May 26 and run through June 2.

This major film festival was scheduled to be held in April 2020; however, amid growing concerns over the coronavirus during March 2020, the organizers postponed it to a later time in June, which was also canceled.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The 39th edition of the national version of the festival was held from January 31 to February 10.
