‘Untimely’ will compete with films from the US, Germany, Denmark, Portugal, Mexico, and Argentina for the award, ifilmtv.com reported.

The film narrates the story of a soldier who has done something forbidden while on duty, so he has lost his chance to go to his sister’s wedding ceremony.

His obligation to stay at the military base makes him remember his life story from childhood to the present.

Iman Afshar, Shayan Afshar, Ayoub Afshar, Mahsa Narouei, Ava Azarpira, and Mousa Afshar appeared in the film along with a number of artists from the Iranian city of Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

‘Untimely’ has been screened at some global events, namely, One Country One Film Apchat-Issoire International Film Festival in France and received a number of awards, including the best feature film and best editing at the Asian Cinematography Awards, the best film, best director and best cinematography awards at the Tokyo independent films celebration in Japan, as well as the Best World Cinema Feature award at the Kansas City International Film Fest in the US.

Labeled ‘the European Sundance’ by Hollywood Reporter, the Oldenburg gala is one of the most influential film festivals in the world.

The festival aims to promote innovative and independent filmmaking. The event supports independent filmmakers with diverse voices.
