Ramezani added that a wide network of these cultural centers has been formed in the country.

Ramezani made the remarks at his meeting with officials in Iran’s southern city of Bushehr, adding that Iran is among the first 15 countries in the world in terms of creating a network of public libraries.

Iran has 3,700 public libraries, of which 2,700 are under the direct supervision of the center of Public Libraries of Iran, and 1,000 are being managed jointly, he said, noting that 7,500 individuals are working in these cultural centers.

The center is the largest cultural network in the country after schools and mosques, Ramezani said, explaining that several cultural and promotional activities of Iran’s Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry are being implemented in public libraries.

Currently, new library networks have been implemented in the country, and some public libraries provide over 60 services in social and cultural centers, he said.

Referring to Bushehr’s lack of a central library, Ramezani addressed the representative of the Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the province to offer the necessary assistance.

A central library could elevate a province’s cultural level, Ramezani concluded.
