Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili, in a meeting with the Belarusian ambassador to Tehran, emphasized the deepening of bilateral cultural ties.
In his meeting with Dmitry Koltsov, Esmaeili described cultural cooperation as the driving force for the development of relations in other fields, IBNA reported.
Calling Belarus one of the regional friends of Iran, the minister said the government is seeking to expand bilateral relations in various fields.
Referring to the high capacity of Iranian films to be screened in Belarusian cinemas, Esmaeili said yearly, on average, more than 100 movies are produced in the country that are eligible to be screened in international festivals.
According to the ruling regulations, Iranian theaters can also host some works produced by Belarusian filmmakers, he added.
“Establishing joint book exhibitions”, the minister said, is among the areas of cultural cooperation.
The Belarusian ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to expand cultural interactions with Iran.
During the meeting, the envoy officially invited Iranian filmmakers to attend Minsk International Film Festival Listapad.
Koltsov stated that the biggest film production company in Belarus has a great desire to produce joint works with Iranian filmmakers, expressing hope that the joint production of films will be on the agenda.
