Iran’s Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili said that the 8th Arbaeen International Awards must extend the most influence of the epic march of Arbaeen internationally.

Esmaeili also highlighted the improvement of the quality of holding the 8th Arbaeen International Awards.

Each of the different departments of the ministry has a huge capacity to develop the cultural aspects of Arbaeen march, the minister noted.

People interested in participating in the 8th edition of the awards can send their works to the secretariat of the festival until September 22.

Last year, during the 7th edition of the event, great works in various sections of photography, short film, feature film, documentary, and cyber space were sent to take part in the event.

The organizers have established the awards to promote artistic productions on the Arbaeen gathering, which is held by Shia Muslims in Iraq every year.

Arbaeen marks the end of the 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his loyal companions on Ashura.

Hundreds of thousands of Iranians and Shia Muslims from other countries embark on a journey to the Iraqi city of Karbala to observe the day of Arbaeen at the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the third Imam of Shia Muslims and his brother, Hazrat Abbas.
