According to the agreements, the result of this cooperation will be the performance of 10 concerts or operas during each artistic season.

Early July, after the very successful performance of the Iranian conductor in St. Petersburg, the orchestra officials were so impressed by his performance that they invited Rahbari again to perform another concert a few days later.

Gergiev’s friendship with Rahbari goes back to when a young Rahbari led the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1979 and served as assistant to Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan (1908-1989).

Rahbari is a graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He was the conductor of symphony orchestras in Brussels, Prague, Zagreb and Tehran, winning several international gold and silver medals.

He has been invited to more than 120 world orchestras and has collaborated with the state symphony orchestras of Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, and Izmir in Turkey for more than 25 years.

He has recorded almost 250 albums with the most important orchestras and operas of the world.

The Mariinsky Theatre is the biggest hall in the world, and is managed and directed by Gergiev. Currently, the Stravinsky Orchestra has 400 players. This hall has three large orchestras. Stravinsky Hall was opened in 1860 and became a significant performance space for glorious performances by notable late 19th century composers such as Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov.
