The 8th International Shahr (Urban) Film Festival wrapped up in Tehran and the organizers announced the winners at a ceremony at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Friday.
During the ceremony, Iran’s late journalist Nader Talebzadeh, actress Fatemeh Goudarzi and actor Abdolreza Akbari were commemorated at the ceremony.
The winners of all six sections of the gala received their awards, shahrfilmfest.com reported.
Director of the festival Majid Akbarshahi said, “In this edition we offered 61 plaques of honor, 13 festival figurines and five commemorations.”
He added that this edition also hosted an educational workshop by Mahmoud Kalari, which was highly welcomed by art lovers.
Akbarshahi expressed his hope that next year’s festival will be more fruitful.
A total of 3,700 works, from 112 countries, competed at the international festival. India, with 336, Brazil, with 127, and Turkey, with 112, are the countries with the highest participating films in the event.
Several countries, including the Maldives, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Benin, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Senegal, took part in the event with a single film.
The festival opened at Tehran’s Mellat Cineplex on July 17 and ran through July 22.
