The 27th International Theater Festival for Children and Young Adults will be held in Hamedan from June 22 to 27, announced the head of the Culture and Islamic Guidance Department of the western province.

Masoud Vijeh said on Tuesday the international festival will be held in 19 theaters across the province.

He said that 70 domestic and foreign theater groups will attend the event, adding that the opening ceremony of the festival is to be held on June 21 with the presence of a group of national and provincial officials.

Noting that 12 sections are planned for the 27th international festival, Vijeh said 500 works from domestic and foreign theater groups were submitted, out of which 70 groups got the judges’ nod to participate in the event.

The 26th edition of the festival was held under the supervision of Majid Qannad, with the participation of 52 plays from 13 provinces of Iran and seven other countries.

Last July, an agreement was signed between Hamedan’s office of the governor-general and Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to hold the festival in the province for three years.
