In this article, we take a look at the activities that took place last week in different art fields such as  theater, architecture, cinema, culture and literature, visual arts, fashion, and music.

Cinema

- Iranian movie “Bonus”, written and directed by Reza Nejati, was picked as the best film at the 12th edition of the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) Awards.

-The movie "Leila Brothers" was met with a positive response from critics after its first screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

-The Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA) decorated director and actor Hadi Hejazifar with its Plaque of Glory. He received the honor for his acclaimed directorial debut “The Situation of Mehdi”.

-A total of 1,871 works from 112 countries were submitted to the secretariat of the 8th International Shahr (Urban) Film Festival.

-International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund selected  ‘Red Mist Descending’ by Rakhshan Banietemad for its 2022 Script and Project Development Support scheme.

-The Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) was screened a selection of films and documentaries on the Iran-Iraq 1980-1988 war, which is called “Sacred Defense” in Iran.

- Iran's Documentary, Experinental and Animation Film Center (DEAFC) has produced a documentary that chronicles the tripe Austrian architect Hans Hollein made to Iran in the 1970s.

-The 12th edition of the International Youth Film Festival “Light to the world” in Russia has awarded Iran’s animation ‘Irreversible’.

-Aida Panahandeh held a master class at the International Iranian Film Festival in Zurich.

Fashion

-Ali Asghar Khaksari from Mashhad was introduced as one of the winners of the International Festival of Uzbek Jewelry in the field of cutting precious stones and jewelry.

-The 11th International Specialized Exhibition of Machinery and Textile, Leather, Garment and Carpet Products of Yazd Province was held.

Visual Arts

-An artwork by German artist Karl Schlamminger has been donated to the Niavaran Cultural-Historical Complex in Tehran.

-An exhibition of artworks in different media by Mohammad-Hossein Heidari, Amir-Ali Javadian, Saeid Sadeqi, Mohsen Rastani, Mohammad Farnud and an anonymous photographer is underway at Abolfazl Aali Gallery. Entitled“The Victory Turn”, the exhibit will continue until Jun 1.

-Iranian and Italian artists showcased their oeuvres in a painting exhibition opened on May 24 at Palazzo Bonin Longare Vicenza in Venice. The exhibition featured the works by 12 Italian and 12 Iranian artists.

-An exhibits entitled “Heavenly City” is showcasing a collection of never before seen paintings on the theme of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war at Abolfazl Aali Gallery.

-Golestan Palace was selected as the top museum among the state-run museums of the country, said the director of the UNESCO-registered museum in Tehran.

-An exhibition entitled “Ardehshir’s Colors” is showcasing the latest works by Ardeshir Mohasses at Artibition Art Gallery.

Theater

- The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance attended the Hafez Hall to watch the performance of the Baran Children Theater Group and encouraged the art activities of artists with mobility and physical problems.

-American playwright Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” went on stage at Tehran’s Divare Chaharom Theater.

-Shahrzad Theater Complex hosts 9 shows from June: seventy-two zeros, gestures, streams, scenes from multiple marriages, letters on the wind, Chekhov Sad, the Museum of Innocence, and the Trilogy of ray.

-The play "He ... Ophelia" directed by Setareh Tabrizazd was invited to the "Tbilisi" Movement Theater Festival in Georgia.

-The farewell ceremony of Mahdi Afzali, former CEO and introduction of Majid Zineh Al-Abedin CEO of Roudaki Foundation was held in Roudaki Hall.

Music

-Iranian vocalist  Alireza Qorbani gave a concerts at the Nieuwe Kerk, a Dutch Baroque Protestant church in The Hague.

-Iranian pianist Fereidun Nasehi performed pieces from world-renowned composers such as Franz Schubert and Frédéric François Chopin during a recital at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

-Iran’s National Orchestra gave a concert at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on May 19 and 20. Entitled “From Oud Lajan to Azarbaijan”, the performance conducted by Shahram Tavakoli. Vocalists Navid Noruzi and Mehdi Mohammadi accompanyed the orchestra during the performance.

-"Hazar Dastan" group gave a concert at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

"Sujin" Orchestra gave a concert at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on May 18. The performance conducted by Shahram Tavakoli. Vocalist Reza Khojandi (Ahura Band) accompanyed the orchestra during the performance.

-The first conference "Shadow of Light of the National Orchestra (perceptions of what and the position of this orchestra)" was held on June 23 with a speech by Farshad Tavakoli and Mohammad Reza Fayyaz on the genealogy of the term "national", its introduction into Iranian music literature and its implications in Roudaki Hall.

Culture and Literature

-Fariba Kalhor, writer, donated a collection of her works and awards to the National Museum of Children's Art and Literature of the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents.

-The 33rd Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) recorded sales of over $7.1 million worth of books during the ten days of the exhibition.

-On the occasion of the 3rd of Khordad, "Khorramshahr Liberation Day", the poetry sessions of Niavaran Tuesdays resumed.

-The book ''Orange Juice in Operation Karbala-5,'' by Mahdi Ajam, was unveiled with 135 brief stories of doctors and nurses who worked in Baqiyatallah Al-Azam Hospital during the tough days of COVID-19.

-Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has paid a visit to the 33rd edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).

-Dutch writer Rutger Bregman’s book “Utopia for Realists: How We Can Build the Ideal World” has been published in Persian. Now is the publisher of the book translated into Persian by Mazda Movahed.

Architecture

-The meeting of the human city through the documentary window was held along with the broadcast of the documentary in the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of Soura.

-The first Iranian Interior Architecture Conference, which was scheduled to be held on June 25, was postponed to another date due to air pollution.

- A workshop on creating works and discourse was held in the presence of Ali Asghar Tajvidi at Professor Farshchian University.

-The results of the "Work + Life" contest ended with the selection of the best works by the jury.
