In this article, we take a look at the activities that took place last week in different art fields such as  theater, architecture, cinema, culture and literature, visual arts, fashion, and music.

Cinema

-“Atabai” directed by Niki Karimi was named best film at the 14th Celebration of Iranian Cinema Critics and Screenwriters on Saturday.

- Kyrgyz Film Week is held in Iran to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

-The films of the competitive and non-competitive sections of the 13th National Student Short Film Festival "Shadow" as well as the names of the selection committee of this event were announced.

-The teaser of the 12th Tehran International Animation Biennial was unveiled with elements designed for the visual content of this festival.

Fashion

-Registration in the competitive section of the 11th Fajr International Fashion and Clothing Festival began on 27 May.

_Student dress design exhibition was held at Tehran University.

-The Armenian Clothing Exhibition of Iran will be held in cooperation with the Ardak Manoogian Museum and the Royal Clothing Museum, hosted by the Saadabad Historical and Cultural Complex, from May 19 to June 26.

Visual Arts

-Eight members of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults won awards at the International Visual Arts Competition, “Louis François” in France.

-Dastan Gallery from Iran is also presents in this event to display works by Homa Delvaray.

-The fifth gathering of Iranian collectors from all over the country in different fields was held in the National Museum of Iran in Tehran, introducing the top collectors of this Iranian year.

-The Golestan Palace in Tehran held various ceremonies on the occasion of Cultural Heritage Week.

-Last week, Tehran galleries hosted24 new exhibitions in various fields of visual arts.

Theater

-Shahrzad Theater Complex will host 9 shows : seventy-two zeros, gestures, streams, scenes from multiple marriages, letters on the wind, Chekhov Sad, the Museum of Innocence, and the Trilogy of ray.

-The 17th night of the actor and the celebration of the World Theater Day was held on the night of May 15, 1401, with the presence of artists in the main hall of the city theater.

-The play "Saturdays" directed by Ali Najafi held at Khatoon Theater.

-The poster of the 24th National Theater Festival of Fat’h Khorramshahr was unveiled.

Music

-The music video “Sculpture” directed by Iranian musician Ramin Hosseinpur has won two honors at the Prague Music Video Awards and Munich Music Video Awards.

-TIran’s National Orchestra gave a concert at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on  on May 19 and 20. Entitled “From Oud Lajan to Azarbaijan”, the performance conducted by Shahram Tavakoli. Vocalists Navid Noruzi and Mehdi Mohammadi accompanyed the orchestra during the performance.

-Concert of "Sujin" Orchestra sung by Hamid Reza Khojandi (Ahura Band) took place in Vahdat Hall.

Culture and Literature

-Iran Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili and Qatar Culture Minister Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Thani met in Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) on Thursday, as Qatar has been selected as this edition’s special guest.

-“A History of Russian Thought” by William Leatherbarrow and Derek Offord has been published in Persian. Abbas Jang is the translator of the book published by Bezangah.

-A ceremony to commemorate Hakim Abul-Qasim Ferdowsi was held in Vahdat Hall on Sunday afternoon (May 15, 2022) with the presence of Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili and Head of Academy of Persian Language and Literature Gholamali Haddad Adel as well as a number of scholars and literature lovers.

-Some 475,000 copies of books have been sold through the virtual section of the 33rd Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) by the end of the seventh day on Tuesday (May 17).

- British writer Alison Pargeter’s book “Libya: The Rise and Fall of Qaddafi”, which recounts the story of the Libyan dictator, his repressive regime and the details of its downfall, has been published in Persian.Published by Saless, the book has been translated by Bijan Ashtari.

-Croatian scholar Yasmin Dar (Yasmina Mehic) has written her travelogue of Iran in a book entitled “On the Roads of Persia”. The Croatian publishing house Cekape plans to release the book on June 15, 2022.

Architecture

-The end of the twelfth period of the architect week after two years was held in person in the hall of Sooreh Art Center.

- The call for the second Armanshahr children's photography competition with the theme "Children in the city and the village" was published.
