“The Recess” directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad has grabbed the FICTS’ jury award for best film in “Sport and Society” competition section of the 6th Beausoleil Côte d'Azur International FICTS Festival in France. 

The Festival, chaired by Philippe Manassero, is promoted and organized by the Comité Departemental Olympique et Sportif des Alpes Marittimes (CDOS 06) in association with Federation International du Cinema et Television Sportif (FICTS), associated with the International Olympic Committee).

Founded in 1983, FICTS (Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for which it promotes the values of sport through film and television. 

The 6th edition of the “ Beausoleil Côte d'Azur International FICTS Festival” wrapped-up in the presence of the FICTS President, Prof. Franco Ascani, on May 12 in a closing ceremony at the Prince Jacques Cultural Center of Monaco in Beausoleil, France.

“The Recess”, winner of the “Sport and Society” competition section of the festival, follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.

“The Recess” is produced by Navid Nikkhah Azad and Delia Guerra Parra and is an Iran-Spain production.

The winners of the "Beausoleil Côte d'Azur Sport FICTS Festival" will participate in "Sport Movies & Tv 2022", Final of the "World FICTS Challenge" World Cinema and Sports Television Championship which will take place in Milan from 9 to 13 November.
