Initial agreements on book publishing and sales in Arab countries among Iran’s Muscat fair achievements

The Center for Organizing Translation and Publication of Islamic Education and Humanities announced that the preliminary agreements have been reached to publish books in some Arab and Muslim countries.

The center that attended the 26th Muscat International Book Fair in Oman said during meetings with publishers from Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, India, Egypt and Sudan, it has presented its selected works and has reached initial agreements with some of the publishers to publish the books.

The international book fair in Oman reopened on February 24 after a year-long hiatus to prevent the coronavirus spread, with the presence of the Iran Book and Literature House.

The Iranian cultural institute, which has had an active presence in the past, participated in this edition as the “National Booth of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” in a booth with an area of 27 square meters.

The Iran Book and Literature House presented and introduced more than 200 books on religion, literature of resistance and the Sacred Defense, contemporary and classical literature, children’s literature, Iranology and art.

Introducing the publishing industry of Iran, the Tehran International Book Fair, the plan to support the translation and publication of Iranian books in world markets, as well as holding cultural programs were among the objectives of Iran Book and Literature House at the 26th Muscat International Book Fair, which will end today.

Negotiations for int’l sale

Also, in its first appearance at the Muscat International Book Fair, Iran's Blue Circle Literary Agency held talks with publishers from Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt for selling famous works of contemporary Iranian literature.

The publishing market of the Arab countries is one of the most important publishing markets in the region, while among the topics of interest to Arab publishers are contemporary Iranian literature, children’s literature, as well as books in the fields of social science and philosophy, IRNA wrote.

Among the meeting of the Blue Circle Literary Agency, two negotiations have reached the final stage in the Muscat exhibition, which will be signed by the parties after going through the legal process, the report said.

One of these two contracts is related to the sale of famous works of contemporary Iranian literature.
