The 12-minute film, ‘The Wound,’ tells the story of a nine-year-old who has lost her family in an earthquake. After the catastrophic incident, she thinks she is wounded, ifilmtv.ir reported.

Vania Afzali and Alireza Labibian are among the cast of the film.

The film has already participated in a number of global events including the Durango Independent Film Festival in the U.S., the Central Florida Film Festival in the U.S., the Girona Film Festival in Spain, and the Chesapeake Film Festival in the U.S.

The Iranian short film will also be screened at the D.C. Independent Film Forum (DCIFF) in the U.S., from March 2 to 6.

According the Media Film Festival’s website, the event is hosted by “a group of volunteers who spend the year soliciting, screening, and scoring the ever-increasing number of films from around the world.”

Screening various narrative, documentary, animation and experimental short films, “the goal is to build a greater appreciation of artists and filmmakers within our community and beyond.”

This year’s edition of the event is slated for March 31 to April 2.
