Hatami is presiding over the jury panel of the International Section of the event.
Reza Dormishian’s ‘No Choice,’ from Iran, is competing at the French event along with Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s ‘No Land’s Man’ (Bangladesh, India, U.S.), Da Fei’s ‘The Coffin Painter’ (China), Zhang Lu’s ‘Yanagawa’ (China), and Hong Sung-eun’s ‘Aloners’ (Korea).
The daughter of prominent Iranian director Ali Hatami, Leila Hatami has appeared in a number of her father’s films including ‘Hezar Dastan’ (1987), ‘Kamalolmolk’ (1984), and ‘The Devoted’ (1992).
Her first appearance in a leading role was in the film ‘Leila’ (1997).
In 2014, Hatami was a member of the jury panel of the world-known Cannes Film Festival in France.
Founded in 1995 by Martine and Jean-Marc Therouanne, the Vesoul film festival means to present and promote the cinema of Asia, enhance intercultural dialogue and encourage the discovery of other cultures through cinema. In 2018, they were honored at the Busan International Film Festival for their contribution to Korean cinema.
The French festival kicked off on Feb. 1 and will conclude on Feb. 8 with Kazakhstan filmmaker Yerlan Nurmukhambetov’s ‘The Horse Thieves. Roads of Time.’
