The Special Jury Award of the festival was given to Iranian writer and director Masoud Jafari-Jozani for his longtime contribution to the world of cinema.

In the Iranian Dream section, the plaque of honor was given to ‘Hi-tech Friendship,’ by Hashem Masoudi and Mohammad-Sadeq Ramezani-Moqaddam. The jury members had no Golden Lantern Award in this section.

‘Golden Son’ by Abbas Vahaj received the Golden Lantern award of the National Memory section.

In the Intra-discourse Criticism section, the Golden Lantern award was given to a film by Mohammadreza Hajmohammad-Hosseini.

The closing ceremony was attended by cultural figures and officials including the director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Peyman Jebelli.

The festival opened with ‘The Morning Son,’ Behruz Afkhami’s biopic about Imam Khomeini.

Established by a number of Iranian revolutionary figures, the Ammar Popular Film Festival has been named after Ammar Yasir, a close companion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the previous edition was organized online, but this year’s festival took place at the Andisheh Hall of the Art Bureau in Tehran from January 8 to 14.
