Ali-Asghari pointed to Nima’s social concerns, noting that Nima gave importance to awakening, because he allocated 52 couplets to this issue.

The residence of Nima turned into the Museum of Modern Iranian Poetry, which opened on November 13.

Known as the father of modern Persian poetry, Yooshij was born Ali Esfandiari. He gained great acclaim for making Iranian verse more accessible and freer in form and subject matter.

Born on November 11, 1897 in Yoosh, a village in Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran, Nima rose to fame because of ushering in a movement in Persian poetry called ‘She’r-e No’ or ‘New Poetry’.

Nima died of pneumonia at his house in Tehran on January 3, 1960. This famous poet was laid to rest in Yoosh.
