In this article, we take a look at the activities that took place last week in different art fields such as  theater, architecture, cinema, culture and literature, visual arts, fashion, and music.

Cinema

-Ramin Sotoudeh, an Iranian journalist and writer, was introduced as one of the two editors of Variety Magazine.

-The closing ceremony of the 12th edition of Ammar Popular Film Festival (APFF) was held in Andisheh Hall of Artistic and Cultural Center late on Fri. and the winners received their awards in different sections.

-The Iranian drama “Hero” by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi was nominated in the not in the English language category at the British Academy Film Awards.

- Leila Hatami, star of the Oscar-winning drama “A Separation”, has been selected as the president of the international jury of the 28th edition of the Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinemas.

-The night ceremony of "Jamal Shoorjeh" was organized by the Iranian Cinema Directors Association with the participation of the National Cinema Museum and the National Cinema of Iran with the presence of prominent figures of Iranian cinema.

-Iranian actor Payman Maadi, the star of the Oscar-winning drama “A Separation”, has been selected as a member for a jury of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.

-Omid Moallem, director of the Donyaye Tasvir and secretary of the Hafez celebration, announced that next year, the first Ali Moallem theater and music festival will be held.

-The National Museum of Asian Art in Washington DC has unveild its lineup for the 26th edition of the Festival of Film from Iran. Seven acclaimed films, from social documentaries to dark comedies, reviewed during the online event opening on Friday.

-Directed by Ahmad Bahrami Iranian film “Wasteland” will be screened at the Norwegian Tromsø International Film Festival and the 26th Annual Iranian Film Festival in the United States.

Fashion

-Sepideh Yaghouti was appointed as the secretary of the 11th Fajr International Fashion and Clothing Festival at the same time as the second meeting of the Policy Council.

Visual Arts

-The 15th auction in Tehran sold 158 billion and 890 million tomans with 80 works. Parviz Tanavoli’s “Seated Poet” was the most expensive work sold at the auction on Friday as it fetched 14 billion  600million tomans.

-Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister, Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili , visited Expo 2020 Dubai.

 -Niavaran Cultural Center is the host of the fourth "Object" exhibition from January 15 to February 1 in galleries number one and two.

-Works by 13 Iranian artists were selected to be showcased at the 56th edition of the Illustrators Exhibition in Bologna, Italy as the organizers announced the finalists on Friday.

-The 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT10) will include 69 projects with new and recent work by more than 150 emerging and established artists, collectives and filmmakers from more than 30 countries. Nazgol Ansarinia, Maryam Ayeen, and Abbas Shahasavar are young artists who are present at the10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art.

-Several Iranian children have won prizes at the 7th Asian Children's Art Exhibition & Competition recently held in Liaoning Province, China.

- Iran and China are holding their first joint exhibition of the two countries’ stamps in Tehran.

-The closing ceremony of ‘Iranian Cypress’ program was held at the Niavaran Cultural Center on Saturday .

-Last week, Tehran galleries hosted 19 new exhibitions in various fields of visual arts.

Theater

-Artists and fans threw a birthday party on Wednesday, January 12, for 83-year-old Theater Director Ali Rafiee at the Iranian Artists Forum.Also a documentary featuring director Ali Rafiei’s skills in staging Federico Garcia Lorca’s “The House of Bernarda Alba” premiered on Wednesday evening 

- "I Wanted to Be a Horse", directed by Abbas Ghaffari and produced by Maryam Naraghi, began at  NofelLoshato Hall. Ghaffari intends to stage the play "I Wanted to Be a Horse" at the 40th Fadjr International Theater Festival.

-Director Hadi Marzban's troupe is rehearsing for his political romance ''Dr.N. Likes His Wife more Than Mossadeq".

-The secretariat of the third edition of the Nationwide Theater Festival of Heavenly General, held in commemoration of the Iranian anti-terror commander Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, announced the 11 final nominees of its playwriting competition section.

-Night of Doubt, directed by Amir Hossein Barimani and produced by Navid Mohammadzadeh, go on staged at the Molavi Hall from Thursday, January 13th.

Music

-The new course of the Orchestra Conducting Academy, which started its work in the collection of Roudaki Cultural and Artistic Foundation in early December.

-The song ‘Mirza Kuchak Khan’ and the mournful song ‘How much do you sleep in the forest?’, written in the description of Mirza Kuchak Khan, were included on the list of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

-The 53rd Persian language course (sixth virtual course) started in Italy.

-The book "Qutbuddin Sadeghi" from the collection "Mandegaran Sahneh" was unveiled on Wednesday, January 13, at the Shahr Theater Complex.

-The Abolhassan Najafi Award Foundation announced nominees for the fifth edition of the translation prize on Tuesday.

-The longest Persian novel or the second longest novel in the world “Kelidar” has been translated into Arabic and published in Cairo, Egypt.

- Iranian litterateur Abdolhossein Zarrinkub’s book “Step by Step Up to Union with God” (“Stepen po stepen do susreta s Bogom”) has been published in the Bosnian language.

-The webinar entitled ''Challenges of Muslim Woman and Families in the West'',  hosted by the Tehran-bassed International Quran News Agency on January 10.

-A book on Qalishuyan, the ritual of washing a carpet in the Iranian town of Mashhad-e Ardahal, has been published in Japanese in Tokyo.

-The Iranian Book and Literature Home (IBLH) is participating in the 31st Doha International Book Fair on behalf of the book publishing industry in Iran.

-A group of Iranian poets and researchers held the 627th cultural meeting of Bukhara Nights in Sari, capital city of Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran, to honor the 62nd death anniversary of father of modern Persian poetry Nima Yooshij.

-The 13th International Exhibition of Architecture and Decoration was held from 11 to 15 January 2022 at the permanent location of Tehran International Exhibitions.
