The 20th edition of the Ritual & Traditional Theater Festival was highly welcomed by online visitors,said the deputy director of General Directorate of Performing Arts.

Mehdi Ebdali added that 11,860 individuals watched the festival’s performances and seminars on Tiwal and Iran Theater Television, IRNA wrote.

The festival ended on December 12, and the winners were awarded at a ceremony held at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

A total of 25 plays were performed online in the non-competition section of the festival and received 11,310 visitors online, Ebdali noted.

A total of 550 individuals watched the seminars of the festival on online platforms, he said.

The jury panel announced Shapur Torkamani, Shahram Ahmadzadeh, and Nima Jahanpour as the top winners of the festival, theater.ir wrote.

Different forms of Iranian traditional performances, such as marionette, naqqali, or storytelling, and siah bazi (literally, black acting, in which two or more actors engage in a verbal dispute which is often witty, sarcastic and humorous and contains impromptu skits peppered with mimicry and subtle commentary on current events and issues) were staged at several metro stations of Tehran, while all the shows were available for online viewing on the festival’s official website and other social media platforms.

The festival began on December 5 and ended on December 12.
