In his assignment letter on Wednesday, Esmaeili called on Khazaei to “safeguard the values and achievements of the Islamic Revolution by the global distribution of Iranian movies and documentaries,” IRNA reported.

The culture minister also urged the new COI chief to educate the new generation in the Iranian movie industry through the sub-organizations like Documentary & Experimental Film Center and the Iranian Youth Cinema Society.

Kazaei will also be tasked with increasing the movie theaters per capita, in association with the private sector.

A member of the Art Committee at the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, Khazaei has been the secretary of Iran’s Fajr Film Festival on multiple occasions, as well as the Resistance International Film Festival in Tehran.

Khazaei has also been the producer of numerous Iranian films, namely, Ebrahim Hatamikia’s 2018 action-drama ‘Damascus Time,’ and ‘The Golden Collars,’ written and directed by Abolqassem Talebi in 2012, which depicts the aftermath of Iran’s 2009 presidential election.
