Scholars and academic figures from Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, were among the orators at the online event, ISNA reported.

Habib-Reza Arzani, the head of the Coordination Headquarters for the Cultural and Artistic Centers of Iran’s Mosques, was joined by Ustaz Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, president of the Consultative Council of Islamic Organization of Malaysia, and Zulfikar J. Abantas, the chairman of the Philippine Muslim Mindanao Consultative Council, in discussing various topics on the political and social roles of mosques in the Muslim world.

Heru Susetyo, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia in Jakarta, Mohammad Oraei Karimi, the cultural attaché at the Iranian Embassy in Malaysia, Ustaz Datuk Seri Ahmad Awang, the Malaysian chair alliance of the World Mosques in Defence of Al-Aqsa, Malaysia’s Muhamad Fauzi Zakaria of the Safe Al-Aqsa campaign, as well as Sharif Abu Shamala, the CEO of the Al-Quds Foundation in Malaysia, also shared ideas in the webinar.

‘Mosque, the axis of unity and resistance of the Islamic Ummah,’ ‘Mobilization of world masjid in defence of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the oppressed Muslims of the world,’ and ‘The role of the mosque in Islamic civilization’ were the major topics of discussion at the event.

Last year, August 21 was named the ‘World Mosque Day’ by Iran, and approved by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
