The event, under the theme ‘The Book – Homeland’ was launched in the Iraqi capital on Thursday.

"Holding this year's exhibition confirms the insistence of Iraqis on celebrating such important cultural events despite the current health conditions," Iraqi Minister of Culture Hassan Nadhim said at the opening ceremony.

Director-General of the Baghdad International Fair Sarmad Taha said the exhibition is witnessing huge participation of publishing houses with many new publications to enrich the Iraqi library.

A number of 228 publishers from 14 countries, including Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, and Syria, are participating at the 10-day exhibition.

Various cultural events and seminars, attended by high-profile literary figures, are held on the sidelines of the book fair.

The Iranian pavilion stretched over 75m2 in association with Iran cultural attaché in Baghdad, Iranian Book and Literature Home, and Tehran International Studies & Research Institute contains 1,200 titles in the fields of religion, culture, art, poem and literature, politics, and Iranian studies.

The first volume of ‘Imam Khomeini According to Iraqis’, containing the accounts of Iraqi political figures – such as Nouri al-Maliki, and Shiekh Humam Hamoudi – of the founder of the Islamic Revolution, is among the major Iranian works in the fair.
