Friday (June 4) marks the 32nd anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution, followed by the commemoration day of the June 5 uprising against the Pahlavi regime in 1963.

Mohammad Reza Saberi said cinemas will also be closed on Sunday, which coincides with the martyrdom of Imam Ja’far Sadiq (PBUH), the sixth Shia Imam.

Movie theaters were given the go-ahead by the National Headquarters for Managing and Fighting the Coronavirus to reopen following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the country.

Majid Majidi’s latest film, ‘The Sun,’ as well as ‘There Was Blood,’ by Masoud Kimiai, and ‘Laleh,’ a film by Essy Niknejad, are among the films on screen in Iran.
