The new edition of the magazine, published by the cultural adviser of the Iranian Embassy, reviews the history of traditional music, as well as tourist attractions in Iran.

The journal looks into various Iranian musical instruments and the diverse folk music in different regions of the country, such as Khorasan, Hormuzgan, Bushehr, Mazandaran, Khuzestan, etc.

Sanandaj, the capital city of Kurdistan Province, in western Iran, is described as “the capital of traditional music in Iran”, while the magazine also reviews the life and works of the late prominent Kurdish musician Qader Abdollahzadeh, a shimshal player, who passed away in 2009.

In the handicrafts section, the magazine studies the history of daf – a Persian frame drum – among the people of Kurdistan.

The significant role of traditional music in different ceremonies and occasions of Iranians’ lives is also among the subjects covered in the special issue.

The paper also explores the life of Masato Tani, a Persian-speaking professor of ethnomusicology at Kobe Gakuin University in Japan.

Tani is a Japanese musicologist as well as a high-profile santur player, who has written a book about the Iranian musical instrument.

The magazine provides more than 70 QR codes to readers, which include video clips and performances by the big names of Iranian classic music.
