Young artists in the field of visual arts have created new works and have become an effective trend in today’s Iranian culture, said Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Both young and veteran artists made great attempts to turn Iran’s contemporary art into a significant trend. Classical arts such as painting, sculpture and pottery, in association with other branches and new media, created a new platform for expression and opened new windows in understanding and redefining the cultural media, he added.

The 13th edition of the festival opened in the Saba Art and Cultural Institute in Iran’s capital Tehran on February 6, with the Golden Tooba section and will run through February 18.

Coronavirus restrictions and the pandemic made more opportunities for artists to create artworks,” the Visual Arts Office director Hadi Mozaffari said in a press release.

This year, due to the observance of health protocols and preventing gatherings, the other two sections opened on February 7 and 8, separately.

He added that some of the artworks on the theme of COVID-19 are being showcased in a special section.
