Iran has plans to strengthen cultural contacts with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Saeed Yari said at the opening of the exhibition of Iranian art “Iran – a precious land” timed to the 42nd anniversary of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The exhibition went on display in the University of Culture art gallery on 1 February, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat emphasized: “The culture of Iran conveys the most important message, which is peace. We wish all nations, in particular, the friendly people of Belarus, peace and good.” According to him, the exhibition gives a glimpse at the flamboyant and unique culture of the Iranian people.

According to Andrei Savinykh, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, Iranian culture delivers a deep philosophical meaning. He believes that the exposition will become an important milestone in intercultural communication of Belarus and Iran.

Rector of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts Natalya Karchevskaya informed that this is not the first joint cultural project of the university and Iran. Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Artists Gleb Otchik said he was glad that the year started with such an interesting cultural project.

The exhibition showcases works of Iranian arts and crafts, handmade items, exquisite rugs, calligraphy, items from termeh (handwoven cloth), minakari (a unique Iranian technique of painting and coloring the surfaces of metals and ceramic tiles through enameling), and khatam (an inlaying technique).
