Majidi received the title from BFA Council deputy director Zhang Jian on Tuesday, the Persian service f IRNA reported on Wednesday.
His Oscar-nominated “Children of Heaven” and “The Song of Sparrows” were also screened for a large number of Chinese filmmakers and film students at the academy.
Majidi also delivered a speech on Wednesday during a meeting with a group of young Chinese filmmakers.
