Alberto Elena was professor of cinema studies at University Carlos III in Madrid and member of the advisory editorial board of the Catalan Journal of Communication and Cultural Studies. He is one of the best known international specialists on the internationally-respected Kiarostami (1940-2016).

Printed by Narenj Publishing Company, the book has been rendered into Persian by translators Zahra Mir-Akhorli and Faramarz Ashenay-Qasemi, Honaronline reported.

“Kiarostami’s films have taken their place alongside  masterpieces in the global film industry. He remains the most influential filmmaker of post-revolutionary Iran. Elena examines Kiarostami’s blend of fiction and reality and recurring themes of death, isolation and solidarity,” Amazon.com wrote introducing the book. Born in Tehran, Kiarostami was an accomplished filmmaker since 1970 for his 40 plus films, including shorts, documentaries and features. He studied at the College of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, and later worked as a graphic designer, book illustrator and advertising filmmaker. For his cinematic works, he received more than 80 international awards.

“Close-Up”, “Certified Copy”, “Taste of Cherry”, “Where is the Friend’s Home?”, and “The Wind Will Carry Us” are some of the best films directed by the late auteur.

Though he was best known for his films, he was also a photographer, poet, painter, illustrator, installation artist and graphic designer.
