The group that is led by director and writer Zahra Sabri will give three performances on August 7 and 8, the organizers have announced.

Sabri has composed the play based on a work by Persian poet Omar Khayyam. It tells the story of three soldiers who decide to cease fighting in an unknown land. To express themselves, they begin making sculptures with mud.

“Count to One” has been performed at several international events, including the 16th International Festival of Puppets and Animated Forms in Lisbon in 2016, at the 30th International Theatrical Festival Valise in Lomza, Poland in 2017 and at the Théâtre d’argile in French city of Frouard in May 2018.

The play brought Sabri the award for best director at the Polish festival.

Over 20 troupes from 16 countries are attending the Iida Puppet Festa this year.
