“Tiola” by Ali Abedi, “Australia” by Payam Larian and “Azi Dahak’s Big Smile in the Long Night” by Mohammad Monem received awards in the Professional Theater Section, which was judged by Mohammad Charmshir, Amir Yarahmadi and Jalal Tehrani.

In addition, “Cake… Chance” co-authored by Maryam Elhamian and Niaz Ebrahimpur, “The Power of Demanding” by Morteza Shahkaram, and “Quadrilogy” by Parisa Kiumarsi won awards in the Production Section.

“Theater provides the chance for us to distance ourselves from social life to examine it,” the secretary of the festival, Farahad Mohanddespur said at the ceremony.

“Playwrights involve themselves in all real phenomena,” he noted and added, “They begin their works in solitude and need their marvelous motivations; their motives differ from those the directors and actors have.”

This awards ceremony was a prelude to the 36th Fajr International Theater Festival, which will be held in Tehran from February 18 to 29.
