Kaveh Kazemi

  • Kaveh Kazemi was born on October 17, 1952 in Tehran. His photographic career started in the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in 1978 and has spanned for more than three decades covering Iran, the region and the world working with major international print media as a freelance photojournalist. His pictures have appeared notably in Time, Newsweek, New York Times, Stern, Der Spiegel, Paris Match, L'Express, Figaro Magazine and Geo. In 1984 he based himself in Paris and covered many different regions of the world including Northern Ireland, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Cuba, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Syria, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. In February 1991 during the Persian Gulf War, he was among the few photographers present in Iraq and his pictures were published in TIME magazine and throughout the world. His permanent base now is his native Iran where he continues to work and cover the region. He is represented by Getty Images where all his archives appear online starting with the coverage of Iranian Revolution to present day.
