TEHRAN.(HONARONLINE) – An illustration portraying a story about Imam Hussein (AS) and his six-month-old baby boy, Ali Asghar (AS) who was the youngest person martyred on Ashura, was unveiled during a special ceremony in Tehran on Saturday.
Hundreds s of mourners lit candles to commemorate the evening of Ashura, known as Sham-e Ghariban, in southern city of Bushehr. Tasua and Ashura, the 9th and 10th days of the month of Muharram, are days of mourning in Shia Islam to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed (SAWA).
TEHRAN. (HONARONLINE) – The Iranian Art Museum Garden is playing host to a group exhibition of calligraphic paintings on the theme of Ashura under the title “Image and Story of Ashura”, the organizers have announced.
The Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum is the venue for Ashura illustration artworks by 20 illustration artists. The show runs until 20 October. In the Shia tradition, Ashura marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram, and commemorates the death of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of the prophet of Islam, Muhammad (S) at the Battle of Karbala on 10 Muharram in the year 61 AH (October 10, 680 CE).
