• HONARONLINE (TEHRAN) – Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini and State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture in Slovakia Konrad Rigo held a meeting in Tehran to discuss broader cooperation in cultural and artistic fields.

Slovak Ambassador to Iran Lubomir Golian, Director of Institute for Development of Contemporary Art Mahdi Afzali, and Managing Director of Niavaran Art Development Center Abbas Sajjadi attended the Saturday convention at Niavaran Cultural Center.

  • People and Land of Wool, a collection of 60 photographs by Italian photographer Mauro Vitale that trace similarities between the Iranian nomads and the ancient culture in southern Italy, are on display at the Nami Gallery of Artists Forum in Tehran. Deputy Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini, Mauro Vitale, Director of Institute for Development of Contemporary Art Mahdi Afzali, Director of Tehran Municipality's Art and Culture Organization Majid Rajabi Memar, and CEO of Iranian Artists Forum Seifollah Samadian attended the opening ceremony on Monday.

  • The annual Fajr Fashion and Clothing Festival has an international strand. The inauguration ceremony took place Saturday morning at Tehran’s Roudaki Hall. In attendance were Deputy Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini, festival director, MP Ahmad Mazani, Head of the Institute for Development of Contemporary Art Mahdi Afzali, as well as representatives from the Iranian fashion and clothing industry, foreign ambassadors, art and culture officials, and delegates from 10 countries participating in this year’s event.

  • A special ceremony was held at the Institute for Development of Contemporary Arts to unveil Mohsen Sharifian’s latest book – which is also on CD - on how to play Ney-Anban. In collaboration with Babak Shahraki, the Wednesday event was attended by Ney-Anban player and Lyan music group leader Mohsen Sharifian, Managing Director of Institute for Development of Contemporary Arts Mahdi Afzali, and Managing Director of the Iran's House of Music Hamidreza Nourbakhsh. Ney-Anban is a type of bagpipe which is popular in southern Iran, especially around Bushehr. The term Ney-Anban literally means bag pipe.
