According to ISNA, the artist had suffered from diabetes for a long time and recently lost his eyesight.

Born in 1941 in Tehran, he was first interested in painting and then became interested in creating cartoons.

He began his works in 1966 with working for ‘Tofiq’ magazine. Two years later, he quit working there and began work at ‘Caricature’ magazine.

He will be laid to rest in the artists’ section of Behesht-e Zahra cemetery on October 16.

Iranian officials and artists expressed their condolences over the demise of the artist.

Adviser to Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mahmoud Shalouei said that “Yekkezare' was a veteran cartoonist of satirical and caricature publications; he had his special style. He was also involved in launching and managing several magazines.”
