Frodon, a former editor at Cahiers du Cinéma, took part in a live session to talk about a newly-published book of Kiarostami’s photos, according to Mehdi Shadizadeh, the founder and secretary of the event.
A documentary on the works of acclaimed Iranian artists will also be screened at the opening ceremony of the second edition of the 5 Photo Award in late June, Shadizadeh said.
A group of prominent Iranian and foreign artists, including Maryam Zandi, Ebrahim Haqiqi, Sassan Tavakkoli-Farsani, Robert van Koesveld, Richard Tuschman, Ayako Takaishi, Damian Drewniak, Roy Kahmann, and Murat Germen, has discussed various topics in photography on the 5 Photo Award’s Instagram page in recent days.
“The 5 Photo Award is an international event for photography inspired by a 500-year-old tree in the Aro Village, a suburb of Damavand [north Tehran],” reported the event’s official website.
“The tree was the subject of Kiarostami photographs in different seasons for many years. His photographs have been exhibited under the title “Snow White” in world-renowned galleries such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.”
The event is also named after Kiarostami’s 2003 documentary ‘Five’.
