A memorial stamp to commemorate the event was unveiled at the opening ceremony in the mausoleum of Sultan Seyed Abbas (brother of Imam Reza (AS), the eight h Imam of Shia Muslims) in Bojnourd, iribnews.ir reported.
A total of 133 plays from 17 provinces were submitted to the festival secretariat this year, out of which eight have been selected to go on stage at the event.
Besides the main competition section, a number of workshops, review sessions and naqqali (Persian dramatic story telling) performances are included in the program.
The four-day festival, which will conclude on August 2, is held during 10-day Dignity Festivities which is celebrated in Iran between the birth anniversaries of Hazrat Fatima Masumah (AS), daughter of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS), the 7th Shia Imam, and that of her brother Imam Reza (AS).
The event seeks to introduce the thoughts and teachings of Imam Reza (AS) in the form of performance, promote religious and related activities, and promote and modernize religious concepts in the society.
