The Mobile Theater Trailer of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) has reached Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in southwestern part of Iran.
Having performed for children and youth since 1974, the trailer is part of the IIDCYA theater department. It visits underprivileged areas in three provinces every season, Mehr News Agency reported.
It has traveled to all the provinces and this is the fourth time it is in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. It arrived on July 11 and will perform in 16 villages by July 17.
It started its new journey on June 25 and before arriving in the southwestern province, performed in Qazvin and Isfahan. It stayed in each of the two provinces for a week and had 14 shows in each.
The theater group has been performing two famous classical stories ‘Reynard the Fox’ and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ in their newest program. Ahmad Teymouri has directed both works and also plays in them along with Marjan Mesgari, Najva Sabaghha, Zahra Karimi, Hashem Khalili, Sepideh Zeinali and Meisam Misaqi.
Reynard is the hero of several medieval European cycles of versified animal tales that satirize contemporary human society. Though Reynard is sly, amoral, cowardly and self-seeking, he is still a sympathetic hero, whose cunning is a necessity for survival. He symbolizes the triumph of craft over brute strength, usually personified by the greedy and dull-witted wolf.
‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ is an English fairy tale in which Jack is a young, poor boy living with his widowed mother. When a gigantic beanstalk grows outside Jack’s window, he climbs it to a land high in the sky and finds an enormous castle where a giant keeps some treasures, a goose that lays golden eggs and a magic harp that plays by itself. Following some incidents, Jack acquires the treasures and lives happily ever after with his mother.
The mobile trailer has a stage of 4.3 by 5 meters and features light and sound equipment that allows for performing dramatic works.
Members of the theater group provide pleasant moments for children and teens.
“One of our goals is to create a happy and joyful atmosphere for children, so we recommend parents to help us in creating such lively situations,” Farzad Rahimi, director general of the IIDCYA branch in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, said.
Apart from its regular program, the trailer also visits regions hit by natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes, to help create a happy atmosphere amid pain and misery.
Established in 1965, IDCYA offers a wide range of cultural and artistic activities in the field of mental and cultural development of children and young adults. The institute has provided a platform for many of Iran’s celebrated artists in their respective fields of work.
