He will be laid to rest in the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran on Tuesday, jamaran.news reported.

His funeral ceremony will start at Hosseinieh Jamaran at 9 a.m. and proceed to the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini.

Born in 1941, Doaei was a moderate political analyst who served as the head of Ettela’at newspaper since 1980. He was a close ally of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, and was appointed by him as the Iranian ambassador to Iraq in the early years after the 1979 Revolution. Doaei was Iran’s ambassador to Iraq from 1980 to 1981. He headed Etela’at for 42 years. 

Doaei won the Golden Pen award from the Association for Defending Freedom of the Press as a prominent cultural figure and donated the award to the Museum of Ali ibn Abitaleb in the city of Qom.
